Project Inspections for Quality Assurance
How do you know the job is being done right? Project
inspections are made on a weekly basis to assure materials meet the
specified criteria, and that workmanship has been performed according to
both the National Electrical Code and National Electrical Installation
Standards.
- Coordination with subcontractors is addressed as needed and in
weekly job conference meetings.
- Material certifications and onsite testing is tracked in a
material and test log.
- Punch lists are forwarded to the applicable subcontractor or
supplier with a transmittal indicating the time line to complete all
work.
Project
Tracking to Stay on Schedule
- Projects are tracked using the Job Cost version of Peach Tree
Accounting Software.
- Weekly job activity reports are prepared and presented at the
job conference.
- A firm schedule is prepared using Microsoft Project. The
schedule is analyzed regularly and updated to point out areas of
concern.
- RFI’s, submittals, and shop drawings are listed per letter and
number, then recorded on a log.
- Change orders are numbered, listed, and submitted for review and
presentation to the owner.
At Schultheis Electric, we employ multiple trades (including
carpenters and masons on staff) to ensure that most work is completed by
our own experienced personnel, keeping the need for subcontractors to an
absolute minimum.
